The Zen of Python Exemplars - Tying Metrics and Traces Together

Explore the intricacies of tying metrics and traces together with exemplars in this informative conference talk. Delve into the complexities faced by Pythonistas when choosing between Prometheus and OpenTelemetry for metrics, despite OpenTelemetry being the clear choice for traces. Examine various approaches to integrating metrics and traces, including OTel metrics, Prom metrics, Prom-turned-OTel metrics, and OTel-turned-Prom metrics. Gain insights into navigating the apparent contradiction with the Zen of Python's principle of having "one obvious way to do it" in the context of metrics and tracing in cloud native environments.
