Deconstructing an Abstraction to Reconstruct a Database Outage

Explore the aftermath of a complex Postgres cluster outage in this 33-minute conference talk from SREcon23 Europe/Middle East/Africa. Follow Chris Sinjakli from PlanetScale as he retraces the steps taken to reliably reproduce the failure in a local environment. Learn valuable lessons about debugging complex systems and dive into the depths of how Postgres represents data on disk. Discover that even unfamiliar layers of a system don't need to be intimidating. Gain insights into deconstructing abstractions and reconstructing outages in database systems.
