Ana-Maria Mihălceanu - Calibrate Garbage Collection on the Ground and Run Your Java App

Explore the intricacies of garbage collection in Java applications during this 53-minute conference talk from Devoxx. Delve into the process of selecting and fine-tuning garbage collector algorithms to optimize the performance of containerized Java applications. Examine two types of applications - CPU-intensive and I/O-intensive - and learn how to progressively enhance GC configurations by evaluating key criteria such as throughput, latency, and footprint. Gain insights into correlating these factors with metrics collected in Prometheus. By the end of this session, acquire the knowledge to make informed decisions about garbage collector choices and their impact on your Java system's performance in production environments.
