Joint Estimation and Contour Detection in Large Scale Image Processing
Explore advanced techniques in large-scale image processing during this one-hour virtual seminar presented by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Delve into the benefits of performing joint estimation and contour detection in a single step, as explained by speaker Nelly Pustelnik from Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon. Discover innovative approaches to textured image segmentation through the combination of multiresolution analysis and non-smooth optimization tools. Learn about efficient algorithmic strategies for handling strongly convex objective functions. Examine the application of these methods to large-scale images, such as those used in studying multiphase flow dynamics in porous media. Investigate a novel formulation of the discrete Mumford-Shah functional for simultaneous image restoration and contour detection. Gain insights into a new proximal alternated minimization scheme designed to tackle non-convex objective functions in large-scale image processing. Compare the performance of these cutting-edge approaches with state-of-the-art image restoration techniques. Read more
