Down the Line - Evolving HTTP and Making Things QUIC
Explore the evolution of HTTP and the development of QUIC in this conference talk from performance.now() 2018. Dive into the OSI model, latency issues, and access networks before examining HTTP's progression through pipelining, header compression, and encryption. Learn about the challenges of packet loss and head-of-line blocking, and discover how QUIC aims to address these issues. Understand the goals behind QUIC, its use of UDP as a transport layer, and its innovative features like streams and quick connection establishment. Investigate the security aspects of QUIC, including attack mitigations, and get insights into its deployment status and statistics. Follow along with speaker Natasha Rooney as she guides you through the technical intricacies of evolving web protocols and their impact on performance.
