ALSA: Writing the Soundcard Driver - Mentorship Session

Dive into the intricacies of the Linux sound subsystem with this comprehensive mentorship session led by Ivan Orlov, Software Engineer at Codethink. Explore the often-overlooked PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) layer and soundcard drivers, gaining essential knowledge for understanding ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture) and Linux sound in general. Uncover undocumented aspects of the sound subsystem, one of the oldest in the kernel, and learn valuable debugging techniques through hands-on demonstrations. Acquire the necessary skills to comprehend and work with sound card driver code, filling the gap left by limited documentation and talks on this crucial component of the Linux kernel.
