Cars and Other Forms of Transportation in IPFS - Data Transport Protocols

Explore the evolving landscape of data transport protocols in this 15-minute conference talk from IPFS Connect Istanbul 2023. Delve into the rise of Content Addressable aRchives (CARs) as a transport protocol for moving data, surpassing bitswap in effectiveness. Examine the limitations of CARs, including challenges with trustless gateway protocols and the complexities of multi-origin file retrieval. Investigate the unclear boundaries between HTTP transport and application-level semantics when implementing authentication or partial transmission indicators. Despite these challenges, discover why the CAR format continues to excel and demonstrate remarkable adaptability in meeting increasing demands placed upon it.
