How eBPF and XDP Will Revolutionize the Telco and 5G Space
Explore the revolutionary impact of eBPF/XDP on the Telco/5G industry in this 28-minute conference talk presented by Thomas D. Nadeau from Redhat and Kyle Mestery from Cisco Systems. Delve into Linux Foundation's open-source component projects for 5G, covering networking, security, observability, and tracing. Learn how eBPF operates throughout the stack and examine practical use cases including DDoS mitigation, load balancing, high-performance forwarding, and flow sampling and monitoring. Gain insights on building an effective team, implementing monitoring and observability, managing upgrades, and understanding the challenges of state management. Conclude with a real-world example from Facebook's Katran project to solidify your understanding of eBPF/XDP applications in telecommunications.
