Running Istio in Production as a Small Team
Explore the journey of a small team implementing Istio in production for a brownfield migration from Mesos to Kubernetes. Learn how to overcome challenges in replicating essential features from a homegrown traffic management setup, and discover strategies for integrating a service mesh, proxy extension method, and self-service traffic configuration. Go beyond basic examples to understand how Istio can be leveraged to manage over 300 microservices without requiring extensive rewrites. Gain insights into navigating the limitations of older systems and selecting appropriate traffic management methods. Through this end-to-end showcase, understand how even small teams with limited knowledge can effectively utilize Istio to simplify platform management and improve the developer experience.
