Keynote RISC-V and FPGAs - Open Source Hardware Hacking
Explore the revolutionary world of open-source hardware in this keynote talk by Megan Wachs on RISC-V and FPGAs. Delve into the importance of Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) in computing and discover how RISC-V, a free and open ISA, is transforming both academic research and the semiconductor industry. Learn about the advantages of aligning on a common hardware language, enabling open hardware implementations and collaborative software tool development. Gain insights into how RISC-V is empowering a new era of hardware hacking, particularly with FPGAs. Understand the impact of RISC-V on education, commercial silicon, and practical open-source hardware projects. Explore five ways to modify RISC-V based designs, learn about RISC-V Foundation FPGA contests, and discover other exciting RISC-V and FPGA projects. Conclude by examining the future of open-source hardware and the additional elements required for its continued growth and success.
