The Fifth Open Paradigm - Open Operations in Cloud Infrastructure Management
Watch a 23-minute conference talk from EclipseCon 2022 where Felix Kronlage-Dammers, Product Owner at SCS, explores how the Sovereign Cloud Stack project aims to revolutionize open infrastructure operations. Learn about the importance of creating strong communities that openly share operational practices instead of keeping them secret, including documentation of best practices, transparent root cause analysis processes, and shared tools for maintenance and monitoring. Discover why transparency in handling bugs, incidents, and security responses builds trust with users and contributes to fewer outages in the long run. Understand how adding 'Open Operations' as the fifth paradigm to the existing 'Four Open' principles can transform how open source platforms are managed and operated, emphasizing collaboration over competition in building more accessible and efficient cloud infrastructure.
