SPDK Accelerator Framework: Evolution from Copy Framework to Modern Hardware Acceleration
Explore a 37-minute conference talk from SNIA SDC22 that delves into the evolution of SPDK's Accelerator Framework, formerly known as the Copy Framework. Learn how this lightweight framework has expanded from supporting a single Intel® IOAT hardware accelerator to encompassing 8 operations and 7 accelerators, including the cutting-edge Intel® Data Streaming Accelerator. Discover the framework's journey from its initial generic API implementation to its current sophisticated state, offering both automatic and manual mapping of operations to specific offload engines. Understand how these capabilities are becoming increasingly vital for infrastructure offload implementations and classic SPDK-based applications. Principal Software Engineer Paul Luse from Intel presents this comprehensive overview of the framework's current capabilities and upcoming community-planned features, encouraging audience participation in future development efforts.
