A New Adapter for Zoned Namespace SSD - Performance Improvements and Implementation

Learn about Zoned Namespace (ZNS) SSDs and their software ecosystem in Linux through this technical conference talk from SNIA SDC 2022. Explore the innovative xZTL adapter that simplifies host access to ZNS SSDs, presented by Samsung R&D Institute's Staff Engineer Hui Qi. Discover how implementing xZTL with Percona delivers significant performance improvements, including TPS increases of 14-90% and latency reductions of 19-47% compared to conventional SSDs with identical hardware. Gain insights into ZS SSD characteristics, software access methods, DTL source management, and detailed benchmark results across RoxDB and Pakona implementations.
