Toward a Carbon-Aware Cloud - Reducing Emissions in Cloud Infrastructure

Explore the environmental impact of cloud computing and learn strategies to reduce carbon emissions in this conference talk from NDC Porto 2023. Discover how choosing the right cloud region can significantly decrease greenhouse gas emissions, with potential reductions of 10 to 20 times. Gain insights into measuring and estimating emissions using observability tools, and learn practical methods for reducing your cloud infrastructure's carbon footprint. Understand the concept of "carbon-awareness" and how infrastructure can dynamically self-adjust based on emissions. Witness a live demonstration of carbon-aware infrastructure and explore the regulatory and financial landscape driving the need to address this critical issue.
