Taking WASI-Cloud-Core for a Spin
Dive deep into WASI-Cloud-Core, a WebAssembly Systems Interface proposal designed to provide a universal method for WASI applications to interact with various services like key-value storage, pub/sub, and SQL databases across different platforms. Explore the proposed interfaces, capabilities, and benefits of WASI-Cloud-Core in making cloud-native and serverless application development more portable, secure, and simplified. Examine the implementation of WASI-Cloud-Core in Spin, a popular framework for building and running microservices with Wasm components. Watch demonstrations of a Spin microservice utilizing state management and event streaming features, and observe its deployment to a cloud platform followed by migration to an Edge environment without code modifications. Gain comprehensive insights into building portable, secure, and fast WASI applications using WASI-Cloud-Core in this 38-minute conference talk presented by Jiaxiao Zhou from Microsoft and Joel Dice from Fermyon Technologies.
