Revolutionizing 5G Infrastructure - OpenRAN, LOKI, and the Open Telecom
Explore a 16-minute conference talk that delves into the evolution of 5G infrastructure through OpenRAN technology and its impact on telecommunications. Learn how Open RAN accelerates innovation in radio access networks by enabling interoperable solutions from multiple organizations that seamlessly integrate into service provider networks. Understand the three key functional units of the 5G New Radio network's radio base station: the Radio Unit (RU) handling RF modulation and digital beamforming, the Distributed Unit (DU) managing real-time layer 1 and 2 scheduling, and the Centralized Unit (CU) performing higher layer functions. Discover how these cloud-native network functions operate within containers on LOKI using COTS hardware, supported by an open ecosystem lab. Join speakers José Miguel Guzmán, David Paterson, and Richard Pioso as they discuss the future of flexible, scalable, and cost-effective 5G deployment options.
