The Fate of the Milky Way

The Fate of the Milky Way

Explore the future collision between the Andromeda galaxy and the Milky Way in this 30-minute video lecture from the series "Experiencing Hubble: Exploring the Milky Way." Delve into the prediction of this cosmic event, examine the Triangulum Galaxy, and marvel at the largest Hubble image ever assembled. Learn about Gaia's updated forecast on galactic movements and how computer simulations blend with Hubble images to visualize the galaxies' journey from present day to their final merger. Discover the potential impact of this galactic collision on our solar system and gain insights into the fate of our cosmic neighborhood, all without the need for time travel.
