Moving Search from the #1 to #7 Challenge - Reducing Complexity and Friction
Discover how to pragmatically improve search beyond relevance and ranking in this 49-minute conference talk from Haystack EU 2023. Learn from Stéphane Renault's experience at Front, where his team of four engineers tackled search challenges in a high-scale environment. Explore strategies for reducing complexity and friction, mapping user journeys, prioritizing issues, defining success metrics in non-transactional contexts, and convincing stakeholders. Gain insights into effective experimentation methods and solutions implemented to address critical search problems. Benefit from Renault's expertise as a senior product manager with experience at both Front and Algolia, including his successful implementation of a new sorting algorithm and virtual replica index.
