The Evolution of Robustness and Integrating the Disciplines
Explore the concept of robustness in evolutionary systems through this thought-provoking lecture by Aviv Bergman. Delve into how complex organisms buffer against adverse mutations, the role of cryptic variation in evolution, and the interplay between biological and cultural evolution. Examine the connections between sciences and humanities in understanding these complex phenomena. Learn about canalization, neurodivergence, and the Polycomb complex while considering how regulatory interactions affect the space of possibilities in evolution. Gain insights into the newly established Albert Einstein Institute for Advanced Study in the Life Sciences and reflect on the relationship between religion and science. Discover how tools from the humanities and cognitive science can enhance our understanding of evolutionary processes and complex systems.
