Mathematics and Machines: Navigating New Frontiers
Explore the intersection of mathematics and machine learning in this Aisenstadt Chair lecture series talk by Javier Gòmez-Serrano. Delve into how computing power has evolved over the past 50 years and its impact on understanding complex physical phenomena like climate change and fluid dynamics. Discover the emerging paradigm in physics and engineering through machine learning and how computers are being used creatively in mathematical work. Examine the potential transformative role of computers in mathematics and speculate on exciting future directions. Gain insights into the convergence of traditional and computational mathematics, with no prior background required. This one-hour conference talk, part of the Colloque des sciences mathématiques du Québec (CSMQ), offers a fascinating look at the new frontiers where mathematics and machines meet.
