Geometric Inequalities Between Intrinsic and Extrinsic Curvature Invariants
Explore geometric inequalities between intrinsic and extrinsic curvature invariants in this 57-minute seminar talk by Dr. Bogdan Suceava from California State University, Fullerton. Delve into the implications of J. F. Nash's Theorem on embedding Riemannian manifolds into Euclidean spaces and S.-S. Chern's observations on the importance of relationships between intrinsic and extrinsic elements in immersions. Examine the developments following B.-Y. Chen's influential 1993 work, focusing on new relationships involving curvature invariants under specific geometric conditions. This presentation, part of the Summer 2024 Analysis and Geometry Seminar at Chapman University's Schmid College, offers insights into an important area of differential geometry research.
