Userspace Block Services Based on Ublk and Vduse in SPDK
Explore the implementation of userspace block services using Ublk and Vduse frameworks in SPDK (Storage Performance Development Kit) in this 42-minute conference talk. Delve into the emerging Linux kernel frameworks, Ublk and Vduse, which enable efficient exposure of block devices to the kernel from userspace drivers. Learn how SPDK leverages these frameworks to provide high-performance storage services with minimal overhead for local container workloads. Examine the similarities and differences between Ublk and Vduse concepts, and discover the benefits and performance advantages of these approaches compared to traditional methods. Gain insights into the experiences and challenges of developing and evaluating block services using SPDK tools and libraries, as shared by Intel experts Liu Xiaodong and Changpeng Liu.
