Migration of OpenSSL from Dist-Git to Src-Git in Fedora

Explore the migration process of OpenSSL from dist-git to src-git in Fedora in this 15-minute conference talk from DevConf.CZ 2023. Discover how to simplify downstream package maintenance by addressing the limitations of the existing dist-git-based development process for Fedora, CentOS, and RHEL. Learn about the advantages of source-git, including easier rebasing and cherry-picking of patches. Follow along as the speaker demonstrates the creation of a source-git repository using packit and defines a workflow for maintaining packages in source-git, using OpenSSL as a practical example. Gain insights into streamlining package management and improving development efficiency in Fedora and related distributions.
