Embracing Remote Development for Local IDEs - From Traditional to Cloud-Based Development
Watch a 28-minute conference talk from EclipseCon 2023 exploring the evolution and benefits of remote development in modern IDEs. Discover how software engineers can move beyond just running code remotely to conducting full development work on remote systems, offloading intensive computing tasks from local machines. Learn about remote development capabilities across established and emerging IDEs including Visual Studio Code, Lapce, Zed, and Eclipse Theia. Gain detailed insights into how this increasingly essential feature works, its implementation across different platforms, and its particular importance in today's cloud-based, microservices-oriented development landscape. Follow along as Mark Sujew from TypeFox GmbH demonstrates how the Eclipse Theia framework enables remote development functionality for framework adopters.
