How to Route a Package to Mars
Explore the intricacies of space data networks in this 23-minute conference talk. Delve into the protocols, routing algorithms, and specialized schemes designed for networking in space, moving beyond the familiar TCP/IP world. Gain insights into the unique challenges of space communication and learn about the efforts towards inter-mission and inter-agency interoperability. Discover the protocol ecosystem used in space networking, highlighting clever technical solutions and future visions. While some knowledge of classic internet protocols and the ISO-OSI layer model is helpful, the talk is designed to be accessible to a broader audience. Join Johann A. Schöpfer as he unravels the complexities of routing data packages to Mars and beyond, based on standards from CCSDS and IETF working groups.
