Reflections Around SW Obsolescence

Reflections Around SW Obsolescence

Explore the challenges of software obsolescence in long-term development projects for physical products like missiles in this 44-minute conference talk. Delve into the contrast between rapid cloud-based development and decade-long missile programs, examining how evolving operating systems, toolchains, and hardware obsolescence impact development processes. Gain insights into software product lifecycle, security considerations, modularization techniques, Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Digital Twin concepts, and integrated development environments. Discover potential strategies to address these challenges and engage in a thought-provoking discussion on the future of software development for enduring physical systems.
