Kubernetes as a General Purpose Control Plane - Scaling on Kubernetes

Explore the concept of Kubernetes as a general purpose control plane in this 32-minute conference talk. Learn how Kubernetes-style APIs are gaining popularity for managing resources outside the cluster through operators. Discover the challenges of scaling multiple isolated operator instances and investigate whether a full Kubernetes cluster is necessary for each. Delve into the minimal control plane components required when using Kubernetes as a general purpose control plane. Examine a proposed lightweight solution for running multiple isolated control plane instances as tenants on a single Kubernetes cluster. Conclude with a live demonstration showcasing a practical example of the proposed solution.
