ORMs and the DBA - How to Keep Both Happy
Explore the challenges and solutions surrounding Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) tools in this 38-minute conference talk from PASS Data Community Summit. Delve into the reasons why ORMs often cause friction between developers and database administrators (DBAs), examining examples of poor performance and problematic behavior in common application patterns. Learn strategies to mitigate these issues, including auditing generated SQL and optimizing application code to better align with ORM operations. Discover tools and alternative ORM solutions that address some of the most significant database problems associated with ORM usage. Focus on Entity Framework and Entity Framework Core, the most prevalent ORMs in .NET development, to gain practical insights for improving ORM implementation and fostering better collaboration between development and database teams.
