Building an Ephemeral World

Building an Ephemeral World

Explore the shift from long-lived compute environments to ephemeral short-term workloads in this 45-minute conference talk from linux.conf.au 2022. Dive into two approaches for creating standard images: ImageBuilder for traditional Linux images and Buildah for container images. Learn about the strengths and weaknesses of these tools, compare them with alternatives, and discover steps for maintaining secure images. Gain insights into the roadmaps of these technologies and access freely reusable demo materials. Understand how this shift impacts provisioning, deployment, and approaches to applying updates and security patches in cloud-based virtual machines and containerized instances.
