API != REST - Procmail to the Rescue

Explore an alternative approach to API development using SMTP instead of REST in this conference talk from linux.conf.au 2021. Learn how Bruno Cornec and Frederic Passeron implemented an email-based API for a training on demand workshop system, leveraging procmail, scripts, and Ansible playbooks. Discover the advantages of using asynchronous email communication for managing user registrations and setting up workshop environments. Gain insights into the automatic deployment process and see a live demonstration of the system in action. Understand how traditional protocols like SMTP can still offer effective solutions for modern API needs, especially in scenarios with specific constraints.
