Model Templates for Minimal Models of Consciousness
Explore the concept of model templates for minimal models of consciousness in this thought-provoking conference talk. Delve into the interdisciplinary nature of consciousness studies and learn how minimal models provide a shared framework for systematic research. Examine the importance of critically analyzing overlaps and tensions among various consciousness models. Discover how model templates serve as philosophical and computational tools for tracking idea migration between theories. Investigate the application of this approach in supplementing the search for a minimal model of consciousness. Follow the presenter's analysis of idea migration from physics to biology, psychology, and sociology. Examine the free energy principle as a case study, understanding its use of physics and information theory concepts to explain consciousness. Consider the pragmatic philosophy behind using mathematical tools to model consciousness and explore how free energy models align with current cognitive science paradigms. Read more
