The Rise of Allocentric Interfaces and the Collapse of the Virtuality Continuum
Explore a thought-provoking keynote address from the ACM Symposium on Spatial User Interaction (SUI 2018) that challenges conventional notions of virtual and augmented reality. Delve into Gregory F. Welch's examination of the "Rise of Allocentric Interfaces and the Collapse of the Virtuality Continuum." Discover how advancing technologies are blurring the lines between real and virtual experiences, potentially reshaping our understanding of human-computer interaction. Learn about the convergence of virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, robotics, and the Internet of Things, and how these developments may lead to more pervasive and integrated "magical" experiences. Gain insights into the potential future of spatial computing where the distinction between real and virtual becomes increasingly irrelevant, and our perception of what is natural evolves to encompass previously fantastical concepts.
