Move Slow and Mend Things
Explore a thought-provoking conference talk that challenges the prevailing obsession with speed in software development. Delve into the concept that velocity is about direction, not just magnitude, and learn why sustainable pace is more crucial than rapid sprints. Discover why time in market outweighs time to market, and how full-stack development extends beyond technology to encompass individuals and interactions. Examine the importance of doing the right thing over doing the wrong thing faster, and question common assumptions about team size, scaling, architecture, code quality, and testing. Gain insights from Kevlin Henney, an experienced consultant and author, as he advocates for a more thoughtful and holistic approach to software development that prioritizes long-term success over short-term gains.
