Caching 101 - Caching on the JVM and Beyond
Dive into an extensive 3-hour university session that explores caching techniques on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and beyond. Begin with a real Java application, analyzing its architecture and identifying contention points. Progressively implement various caching patterns to optimize performance. Explore different cache topologies, including on-heap, off-heap, and distributed caching, and understand their implications for both existing and new application architectures. Examine how application containers and frameworks can influence caching decisions. Gain practical insights into effective caching strategies that go beyond the JSR107 specification, equipping you with the knowledge to enhance Java application performance through intelligent caching implementations.
