Surprise-Inspired Networking
Explore the future of networking and information systems in this keynote address from USENIX ATC '22/OSDI '22. Delve into the concept of surprisal from Information Theory and its implications for edge computing and cloud storage. Learn how "near the edge" computing can synthesize new and existing information, potentially revolutionizing data processing and network architecture. Gain insights from David Tennenhouse, an independent researcher with extensive experience in academia, government, and industry, as he discusses high-risk initiatives like software-defined networking, IoT, and data-intensive computing. Discover how this simple yet powerful concept could shape the future of systems and networks, emphasizing the value of new information entering the cloud from the edge.
