Continuations on the Web and in Your OS
Explore the power of continuations in web development and operating systems through this 40-minute conference talk from Strange Loop 2013. Delve into the fundamental concepts of continuations and their crucial role in web interactions, from synchronous server requests to asynchronous client actions. Discover how delimited continuations can be leveraged to create modular, composable elements in web applications and operating systems. Learn about their traditional applications on the web and advanced techniques through examples from web interaction, high-performance event-based network servers, and concurrent simulation environments. Gain insights from Jay McCarthy, an assistant professor at Brigham Young University and member of the PLT research group, as he shares his expertise on the Racket programming language and the innovative use of continuations in software development.
