GraphQL - Designing a Data Language
Explore the evolution and design principles of GraphQL in this 40-minute conference talk from Strange Loop. Discover how Facebook developed and implemented this static-strong-typed application data query language to revolutionize data delivery for mobile and web apps. Learn about the motivations behind the project, its impact on server and client code architecture, and the journey from experimental beginnings to production use. Gain insights into the redesign process that occurred before GraphQL's open-sourcing in 2015, and understand how it replaced REST endpoints for Facebook's primary iOS and Android apps. Delve into the challenges and lessons learned from creating a new query language, and see how these experiences shaped GraphQL's development over the years.
