Learning from Firefighters to Improve Systems Reliability

Explore how wilderness firefighting principles can enhance systems reliability in software engineering through this 43-minute conference talk. Discover the "Ten Standard Firefighting Orders" developed nearly 70 years ago and learn how to adapt their systematic approach to improve operational reliability in IT infrastructure. Gain insights into limiting damage during outages and protecting both human operators and systems. Examine the parallels between incident management in firefighting and software engineering contexts to develop more robust and resilient systems.
