Description:
Instructor: Prof. U. S. Dixit, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Guwahati. This course discusses fundamentals of engineering mechanics. To design a car, CD drive motor, robot for doing a task of picking an object, and so on, we requires knowledge of engineering mechanics. In this course, We study engineering mechanics to develop the capacity to predict the effect of force on motion while carrying out the creative design functions of engineering. Topics covered here include Analysis of structures, Friction, Center of mass and area moments of inertia, Mass moment of inertia, Virtual work and energy, Plane kinematics of rigid bodies, and Plane kinetics of rigid bodies.
